Saturday, June 9th

Woke up bright and early to banging (and other lovely noises) from above. It was Kip, the “get up at 5:00 am because I’m so excited”, guy. We went to the local Walmart store for a few supplies. After Walmart, we went to the gas station down the street from the marina to find coffee, filters and ice. We asked the nice man (from a different country and didn’t speak great English) if he had coffee filters. He replied “There’s liquor store 1 mile that way (pointing left), and liquor store 1 mile that way (pointing right).” Yes, we were confused but not as confused as the clerk. We went across the street to another gas station and got the items, but they had no ice. So, we went back to the first gas station, and the clerk then told us that he realized what we needed… COFFEE FILTERS. But he still didn’t have any.

So, we went back to the boat and got ready for our company. Jan (the previous boat owner), her sons Bob and Bill (and twins) showed up with “snacks” in hand and we took off on the boat. We stopped and got gas, which caused us much indigestion! We visited three yacht clubs and received “official burgees” to hook on the boat. We traded, so we need to send one to them in exchange. We met so many people, all very friendly and welcoming, and we got hugged and kissed by everyone. The surprise of the day was the VERY LOUD AIR HORN. We just about landed in the drink after that baby went off. Anyone reading this who’s coming aboard, beware. But, as we suspected, we love the boat.

The girls went swimming in the icy cold water and had a lot of fun, especially putting mud on their skin. We stopped at and picked Teri up at North Country Yacht Club and had KFC for lunch. While shopping at the boat store, the gal mentioned that we could go upstairs and see the copula. We climbed up and wow, what a view.

On the way back on Lake St. Clair, we saw two 700 foot freighters. Also, Mary was thrilled because we were on the Canadian side of the water and she LOVES Canada. She wanted us to drive to Canada on the way to the boat just to say she was there. Why? Because they play great hockey. This family is very knowledgeable about the area, and we heard many great stories and facts about what we were seeing. One area, called “Old Town” is strictly for millionaires who were descendants of the original members and was very exclusive. Some of the boats lined up there were 100 footers. Kip was driving the boat and Bill and Bob were both talking to him at the same time. One on each side of him – Stereo. It reminded me of the Blasers (Shelly’s dad’s family). Everyone had stories about the boat – Tonz of Fun – and good things to say about her. It was nice to hear that. We drove around until 10:00 p.m., said our goodbyes, and were ready to sleep! Kip has finally met his match! Jan’s son and son-in-law like a prank just as much as Kip, and are very quick-witted. We laughed until our stomachs hurt.
