June 15, Thursday

The guys and Suzy got up early and pulled out and waited for the draw bridge to open. Shelly was in bed sleeping.

The weather, again, was fantastic! Such good luck. We drove 135 miles to Port Washington, Wisconsin. The ladies had to take a cab to the grocery store and the guys took the kids to the water park to swim. The town is not much of anything. Stores are closed all over, and most of the business is eating establishments.

The cab driver told the ladies that Screech from “Saved by the Bell” lives here. He was not working and had to sell t-shirts for $15 each to save his house. I guess he has a job now, so all is well. The driver also said that the town is working hard to get tourism going.

The water here is less than nice. There are dead fish and brown objects floating all over the place. We are wondering if it has to do with the power plant AND the sewer processing plant here. ISH! The beach has a sign that says “No Swimming – Ecoli in water”. Believe it or not, kids were swimming.

We walked out on the pier to the lighthouse and took pictures (while plugging our noses). We have the air conditioning on so we should sleep peacefully. After the walk, we played Apples to Apples.
